1. Willem van de Wakker, previously indirectly referred to in letter 469. This amateur painter was a telegraph operator in the post office in Nuenen and lived at what was then no. 253 Rozemarijnstraat, district B (now Jan van Lieshoutstraat) in Eindhoven.
2. Van Gogh probably means Joseph van der Harten. He had a brewery in Vrijstraat in Eindhoven and was a friend of Antoon Hermans (whom Van Gogh also knew). He stuffed animals. Cf. Jack van Hoek, ‘Over een kerkuil en een kalong’, Drijehornickels 29-3 (2020), pp. 33-36.
