1. The fourth printing of
Andersen’s prentenboek zonder prenten: Vertellingen van de maan, translated by
J.J.L. ten Kate and published in 1870 by A.W. Sijthoff in Leiden, states the price on the cover: ‘15 cents’ (Reeks Algemeene bibliotheek, no. 8). The first edition of the
Vertellingen van de maan (Tales of the moon) dates from 1862. The tales, subdivided in the translation into ten evenings, relate events on earth as observed by the moon.
